Protection worth understanding.

Marine hull insurance protects the vessel and equipment interest against insured physical damage. Third-party liability and cargo are assessed as separate interests. In Panama, commercial activity, routes and vessel type are fundamental; fishing, transport and service vessels require different presentations.

  1. 01Hull, machinery and navigation
    01 / 03

    The vessel behind your operation.

    Hull and machinery

We review the vessel, machinery and declared equipment. Inventory and valuation allow comparison of physical damage proposals.

    Navigation risks

Collision, grounding, sinking and other marine accidents need specific attention. We define routes and navigation areas for assessment.

  2. 02Fire and theft
    02 / 03

    In port, too.

    Fire and explosion

Protection against these risks affecting the insured vessel. We review fuel, machinery and relevant operational features.

    Vessel theft

We assess theft events and vessel storage or mooring locations. The proposal should identify the protection conditions.

  3. 03Liability and commercial use
    03 / 03

    One operation. Different interests.

    Marine liability

We coordinate third-party liability and, where appropriate, Protection and Indemnity assessment. Limits depend on the vessel, activity and obligations.

    Declared operations and use

We analyse crew, cargo, passengers and service activities to present the complete risk, checking each exposure against the requested cover.

These are areas to assess, not a promise that every plan includes them. We confirm the proposed scope, benefits and limits with you before you choose.

Assess the vessel and its work together.

Vessel descriptions need to include their work: transport, fishing, services or operational support. Hull and equipment values, machinery, crew and navigation areas form part of the profile. We review surveys, maintenance and relevant contractual liabilities for an organised technical presentation.

Hull, cargo and Protection and Indemnity address different interests. Vessel damage differs from third-party claims. We coordinate those discussions and request clear limits and activities. Changed use or a different voyage prompts review rather than an assumption of unchanged scope.

Talk to an adviser

Before you decide.

Is cargo carried by the vessel insured too?

Cargo is assessed separately from hull. We review your business’s interest in the goods and coordinate cargo insurance where appropriate.

Do you also assess leisure boats?

Yes. Leisure boats and yachts have their own assessment of use, value and navigation. You can explore that page or discuss your vessel with our team.

Which value is used to insure the vessel?

We review documents, valuation and proposed terms to establish the sum and settlement basis, identifying hull, engines and equipment.

What if there is a new commercial use?

We submit it with routes, contracts and liabilities for assessment. Declared operations should reflect the vessel’s actual work.
